The York NR2

The York, in NR2, relaunched in October 2019, with a new landlord and a new concept - high end food served in relaxed surroundings, great wine in a pubby atmosphere, and of course, that great big beer garden that has proven especially handy in the summer of 2020!

Over a few visits, the brief was to photograph their revamped interiors, their garden and eventually their food, for their new look website and to be used across their social media.

We exchanged a few mood boards and ideas for the food photography and eventually settled and a light, clean look. It being after dark, in late November, when the time came to photograph their new dishes on their kitchen launch night I decided to bring a portable studio set up to them - backdrops, boards, a soft box and props like napkins - in order to get the high-key, modern look they wanted despite the lack of natural light. I’m super pleased with the results. I love this little local treasure, tucked away on a side street in The Golden Triangle, and it was a pleasure to create some magic for them.
